Two Week Wait


SHOW NOTES: Episode 10


Hello and welcome to another episode of the Path to Motherhood Podcast. The two week wait is one of the most dreaded times in the TTC journey. It can be hard to be in that uncomfortable feeling of waiting. It can lead to racing thoughts and the “what-ifs”. I want to offer you some tips on navigating this time.


1. Don’t put everything else on pause.


Live a full life right now! Spend time with family. Enjoy hobbies that you like. Go out and do the fun activities or events that you have planned. Whatever it is that lights you up, that is what I want you to spend time doing in your two week wait (and all the time for that matter!)


2. Acknowledge what’s going on.


I know a lot of people will say - pause, put it on the shelf, don’t think about it! I disagree. This is one of this things that is so big and heavy and consuming that although we try to put it on the shelf, it doesn’t actually stay on the shelf. Acknowledge your two week wait in short spurts every day so that you aren’t ignoring it. If you ignore it, it’s going to keep coming back up.


3. Identify if testing is creating added anxiety for you.


Testing is something that can create a lot of added anxiety and stress for people in the two week wait process. So truly be honest with yourself and see if this is something that is creating more stress for you. If it is, eliminate it. I know that can seem hard and scary but I want you to really be honest with yourself here and try to eliminate added worry or stress that may come through testing early. Remember if you’re going to test early, make sure it’s far enough past ovulation or trigger shot or transfer that it would be reasonable to test and also make sure you’re doing it from a loving place.


Hopefully some of this inspired you during your two week wait to make it a little more bearable. Remember, you are strong and you can do this. I believe in you.
